How to Pay the U.S. Visa Fee in Malaysia

The DS-160 itself has no submission fee. Applicants in Malaysia pay the separate nonimmigrant visa application (consular) fee through the official appointment service before an interview can be scheduled.

Payment methods in Malaysia

The official Malaysia payment options page currently lists three methods:

• Electronic funds transfer (EFT): choose "Bank of America – Malaysia – EFT", then generate the BOA deposit slip from your profile. Keep the unique account number you transfer to — it is your proof of payment and you cannot schedule without it.
• JomPAY: choose JomPAY, generate the deposit slip, and pay through Malaysian e-banking using the Biller Code and Reference Number (Ref-1) shown. The Ref-1 is valid for a single payment only — never reuse or reprint the same slip.
• Cash at any AmBank branch: print the cash deposit slip and pay over the counter. Watch the teller enter the correct Payment Reference Number, and check the receipt matches the slip amount.

Do not use a bank machine. The official page states cash payment must be made over the counter at AmBank branches, not at an ATM or deposit machine.

Step-by-step payment process

1. Submit the DS-160 and save the confirmation page.
2. Create a profile on the official Malaysia visa service and select Start Application.
3. On the Payment Options page, verify the visa type and amount before paying — fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, and the name and passport details lock to the profile once the fee is tagged.
4. Pay by EFT, JomPAY, or cash at an AmBank counter.
5. Save the payment reference / unique account number — it cannot be replaced, and you cannot schedule without it.
6. Return to your profile to schedule the interview once the receipt activates.

Malaysia-specific rules

• The fee is valid for scheduling for one year from payment, and is non-refundable and non-transferable.
• Only two reschedules per receipt. If you miss or cancel a third scheduled appointment, you must pay a new fee to book again.
• Once the fee is tagged to a profile or used for a first appointment, the name and passport details in that profile can no longer be changed — check them carefully before paying.
• Fees paid in Malaysia can only be used for applications in Malaysia.
• Do not file a chargeback. The official page warns that disputing the charge triggers an investigation, can be reported to credit bureaus as a delinquent account, and may blacklist you with the payment processor.
• F, M and J students and exchange visitors also owe a separate SEVIS fee on fmjfee.com.

Can I pay with JomPAY from any Malaysian bank?
