Booking a U.S. Visa Appointment in Malaysia
Applicants in Malaysia book through USTravelDocs, not AIS, and there is one post — the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
Nothing can be booked until the DS-160 is submitted and the visa fee has activated. The general sequence is on how to book a U.S. visa appointment; this page covers what Malaysia publishes.

You cannot stop in front of the embassy
Malaysia is the only post we have read that solves the arrival problem for you, and the detail is worth having before the morning of the interview:
Please note that parking or stopping is not permitted in front of the U.S. Embassy.
- If driving: the nearest car park is Menara See Hoy Chan.
- By Grab or taxi: the nearest drop-off point is the taxi stand in front of Menara See Hoy Chan.
So the answer to "where do I tell the driver to go" is a named building, not the embassy address. Plan the walk from there.
Clear bags only
Malaysia uses the clear-bag rule, as Thailand does:
Applicants can only carry in clear bags containing papers needed for their appointment.
Oversize shoulder bags and purses are refused, as are oversize handbags, travel bags, large backpacks, briefcases and suitcases.
Not admitted: battery-operated, electronic or media devices — the list names digital watches, digital diaries and recorders, pagers, cameras, cassettes, CDs, MP3s, floppy disks, laptops and portable music players. Also food items, sealed envelopes or packages, cigarettes, cigars, matches, lighters, e-cigarettes and vaping devices, sharp objects such as scissors, pen knives or nail files, and weapons or explosives.
The list is explicitly not exhaustive, and there is no facility at the Embassy to store prohibited items — so anything on it has to be left elsewhere before you arrive, which is another reason to know where the car park is.
Note that Malaysia says "digital watches", the broader wording Singapore and Saudi Arabia use, rather than "smart watches".
Why no slots appear
- The fee has not activated. Check the method you used on the Malaysia fee guide.
- There is genuinely no availability. With one post there is nowhere else in the country to look.
- You created a profile on AIS instead of USTravelDocs. It will never show Malaysian appointments — see which appointment site is yours.
- The DS-160 was saved but never submitted, so no confirmation number exists.

Where should the Grab driver drop me off?
At the taxi stand in front of Menara See Hoy Chan. Stopping in front of the embassy itself is not permitted.
Where can I park?
The nearest car park named by the embassy is Menara See Hoy Chan.
What bag can I bring?
A clear bag holding the papers you need. Oversize purses, backpacks, briefcases and suitcases are refused.
Is a digital watch a problem?
Malaysia's list says "digital watches", which is broader than the "smart watches" wording some posts use.
Can I leave my laptop at the embassy?
No. There is no storage facility, so it has to stay elsewhere.
