Booking a U.S. Visa Appointment in Georgia
Applicants in Georgia book through USTravelDocs, not AIS, and there is one post — the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi.

Nothing can be booked until the DS-160 is submitted and the visa fee has activated. The general sequence is on how to book a U.S. visa appointment; this page covers what Georgia publishes and does not repeat elsewhere.

Bringing the wrong item can cost you the appointment
Most posts tell you that you will not be admitted. Tbilisi tells you what that means for your booking:
Failure to Comply: Non-compliance with these security regulations may result in denial of entry to the facility. Individuals turned away for possessing prohibited items may be required to forfeit their current slot and reschedule their appointment.
"May be required to" is softer than Kathmandu's flat your appointment will be cancelled, but the exposure is the same in kind: the item does not just delay you at the gate, it can cost you the date. With no storage available on site, there is often no way to fix it in the moment.
The most modern prohibited list in the system
Most USTravelDocs country pages share a list written years ago — it still names floppy disks, pagers and audio cassettes. Tbilisi's has been rewritten into categories, and it names the things people actually carry in 2026:
Weapons and deterrents. Firearms including replicas, ammunition, air and gas guns, knives of any size, clubs, mace, pepper spray, "or any object capable of being used as a weapon."
Electronics. Mobile phones, smartwatches, fitness trackers, laptops, tablets, recording devices, cameras, remote controls and key fobs, Bluetooth headphones, power banks, and chargers.
Hazardous materials. Flammable liquids and aerosols of all types.
Baggage and sealed items. Large bags, suitcases, and sealed envelopes or packages.
Four of those are worth pausing on, because they are genuinely absent from the older lists other posts still publish: a fitness tracker is not a watch and people do not think of it as electronics; a power bank and a charger are things you pack precisely because you expect a long wait; Bluetooth headphones are often already in an ear; and knives of any size closes the gap that "sharp objects such as scissors, pen knives or nail files" leaves open to argument.
Note also that "any object capable of being used as a weapon" is a judgement clause, and the embassy states the general version too: security personnel reserve the right to prohibit any item deemed a safety or security risk.
There is no storage
There is no facility at the Embassy to store prohibited items. You must make arrangements to store these items before entering.
Combined with the forfeit clause above, this is the post where arriving unprepared is most expensive. Neighbouring posts differ — Poland takes your phone at the door, Sri Lanka has limited phone storage — but none of that helps you in Tbilisi.
There is no information window for walk-in visitors. Only applicants with scheduled interviews are admitted.
If you are asked for more documents afterwards
A refusal under 221(g) means something is missing or the case needs further processing. In Georgia, documents requested under a 221(g) letter are submitted at a courier office, which delivers them to the consular section. Georgia does not name a single company on its page the way Morocco names Aramex or Ukraine names CGI, so use the locations list on USTravelDocs rather than assuming a courier.
Why no slots appear
- The fee has not activated. Check the method you used on the Georgia fee guide.
- There is genuinely no availability. With one post there is nowhere else in the country to look.
- You created a profile on AIS instead of USTravelDocs. It will never show Georgian appointments — see which appointment site is yours.
- The DS-160 was saved but never submitted, so no confirmation number exists.
Frequently asked questions
Can I lose my appointment for bringing a phone?
The embassy says applicants turned away for prohibited items may be required to forfeit their current slot and reschedule. There is no storage on site, so bring nothing on the list.
Is a fitness tracker allowed?
No. Tbilisi names fitness trackers and smartwatches separately from phones and laptops.
Can I bring a power bank or charger?
No. Both are named on the prohibited list.
What about my car key?
Remote controls and key fobs are prohibited. Ukraine bars car keys entirely; Lebanon permits a plain key but not a fob. Check the post you are actually attending.
Are small knives allowed?
No — Tbilisi says knives of any size, which is stricter than the "scissors, pen knives or nail files" wording other posts use.
Where do I submit 221(g) documents?
At a courier office listed by USTravelDocs. Georgia does not name a single company.
