Booking a U.S. Visa Appointment in Ecuador
Applicants in Ecuador book through AIS at ais.usvisa-info.com, not USTravelDocs. Ecuador is one of the countries where you have a real choice of post, and the two calendars are separate.
Nothing can be booked until the DS-160 is submitted and the visa fee has activated. The general sequence is on how to book a U.S. visa appointment; this page covers what Ecuador publishes specifically.

Two posts, two calendars

Each keeps its own appointment calendar, so checking both before committing is worth the few minutes. You select the post when you create your profile, and you attend in person — a post with an earlier slot four hours away may or may not be the better deal once travel is counted.
The biometrics rule, and what Ecuador does not publish
Ecuador's appointment service carries the same instruction every AIS country does:
Applicants who are required to appear in person at the ASC and the Consular Section must schedule the ASC appointment at least one day before the Consular interview.
That ordering matters: biometrics first, on a separate, earlier day. Both appointments are booked through the same account.
What Ecuador does not publish is where the ASC is. Colombia's and the Dominican Republic's versions of this same page list a named Applicant Service Center with a street address and opening hours. Ecuador's page carries the rule and the what-to-bring list but names no ASC location at all, and "ASC Information" does not appear in the Ecuador site's own menu the way it does for those countries.
We are not going to tell you where your biometrics appointment is, because the official service does not say. The location you are given inside your own account, when you book, is the authoritative one — read it there rather than assuming it is at the consulate you chose.
What to bring to the biometrics appointment
The service lists three items:
- Your current passport, valid for six months beyond your intended date of entry into the United States. Previous passports are not needed.
- Your Form DS-160 confirmation page.
- Your appointment confirmation and instructions page, printed from the appointment website.
The third is a separate document from the first two — generated after you book, and asked for in printed form. See the DS-160 confirmation page if you are not sure which is which.
Why no slots appear
- The fee has not activated. Ecuador's service lists cash and credit card, and cash can take up to 2 business days to register — check the Ecuador fee guide.
- That post has no availability. Ecuador is one of the countries where this is worth testing rather than assuming: check the other of Quito and Guayaquil before concluding the system is broken.
- Wrong platform. A USTravelDocs profile will never show Ecuadorian appointments — see which appointment site is yours.
- The DS-160 was saved but never submitted, so no confirmation number exists yet.
Rescheduling and the fee
Rescheduling happens in the same AIS account. Posts commonly allow around three reschedules before the fee is at risk, and missing an appointment without rescheduling beforehand can void it, requiring the fee to be paid again.
The fee is valid for 365 days from payment, non-refundable and non-transferable, and is tied to your passport and receipt rather than to a particular DS-160.
Frequently asked questions
Can I interview in Guayaquil if I live in Quito?
Yes. You choose the post when creating your profile. Because the two calendars are independent, comparing them is genuinely worthwhile — but you travel there in person for both appointments.
Where is the biometrics appointment held?
The Ecuador appointment service does not publish an ASC address, unlike some other countries in the region. Use the location shown in your own account when you book.
Can biometrics and the interview be the same day?
No. The published rule is that the biometrics appointment is scheduled at least one day before the consular interview.
How long must my passport be valid?
Six months beyond your intended date of entry into the United States.
Is a Quito fee receipt usable in Guayaquil?
Yes — the fee is per country, not per post, so it covers either Ecuadorian post. It does not work in another country.
How long does a paid fee last?
365 days from payment. It is non-refundable and non-transferable.
