How to Pay the U.S. Visa Fee in Brazil

The DS-160 itself has no submission fee. Applicants in Brazil pay the separate nonimmigrant visa application (MRV) fee through the official Brazil appointment service before an interview can be scheduled.

Payment methods in Brazil

Brazil's official appointment service currently offers three ways to pay:

  • Credit card: paid online through your applicant profile.
  • Boleto: generate the boleto from your profile and pay it through your bank or banking app. Pay the exact amount and keep the proof of payment.
  • Pix: pay via the Pix flow generated in your profile.

Step-by-step payment process

  1. Submit the DS-160 and save the confirmation page.
  2. Create an account on the official Brazil visa service.
  3. Add each applicant and continue until the payment page shows the amount in reais for your visa class.
  4. Choose credit card, boleto, or Pix, and pay once through the generated flow only.
  5. Keep the confirmation or proof of payment until the fee registers in the appointment system.
  6. Schedule the consular appointment from the same account once the payment is active.

Brazil-specific payment rules

  • The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, whether or not a visa is issued.
  • It is valid for scheduling for 365 days from the date of purchase — after that it expires and cannot be used.
  • Pay only through the flow generated inside your AIS profile. Never pay a boleto or Pix key sent by email, WhatsApp, or an agent — fee scams targeting Brazilian applicants are common.
  • A fee paid for an application in Brazil cannot be moved to another country's system.
  • Each applicant normally needs their own fee, including children.
