How to Pay the U.S. Visa Fee in Qatar
Qatar uses the USTravelDocs system. Interviews are held at the U.S. Embassy in Doha.

Note that the local-currency online route is a debit card option. If you were expecting to put the fee on a credit card in riyals, the credit-card route here is the USD one through Elavon.
If you see "SAR" on the official page, ignore it
Qatar's payment page carries a note stating that "the SAR amounts are based on the consular currency exchange rate". SAR is the Saudi riyal. The sentence immediately before it correctly describes the debit card option as being in QAR, and the page uses QAR everywhere else.
This is a copy-paste artefact from another country's page, not a currency you owe. You pay in Qatari riyal, and the authority on the amount is the figure printed on your own deposit slip, generated from your own profile. If the slip and a general note disagree, the slip is the one to pay.
We flag it because a mismatch like this is exactly the sort of thing that makes people pause mid-payment, pay a rounded or converted amount, or assume they are on the wrong country's site.
What to bring to pay in cash
- The printed U.S. visa deposit slip from your profile.
- Valid government-issued identification.
And the standard rules that catch people out here as elsewhere:
- Cheques are not accepted.
- The deposit slip expires. VFS and Mannai Travel will refuse an expired slip. Generate a new one from the site — it is free and immediate.
- Pay the exact amount shown on the slip.
- Keep the receipt. It carries the number you need to schedule, and it cannot be replaced if lost.
Step-by-step
- Submit your DS-160 and keep the barcode confirmation page.
- Create a profile on the USTravelDocs site for Qatar and start an application.
- Choose the correct visa class — see paying against the wrong visa class.
- Pick a method: cash at VFS or Mannai Travel, debit card in QAR, or card in USD via Elavon.
- For cash, print the deposit slip on the day you are going.
- Keep the receipt and its number.
- Wait for activation, then book your interview in Doha.
How long before you can book
Allow up to one business day from payment for the receipt to activate — Monday to Friday, excluding U.S. and Qatari public holidays.
The Qatari weekend falls on Friday and Saturday while the processing window counts Monday to Friday, so a payment made late in the Qatari week can sit longer than a straight reading of "one business day" suggests.
