How to Pay the U.S. Visa Fee in Australia
Australia uses the USTravelDocs system. Interviews are held at the U.S. Embassy in Canberra and at the consulates general in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

Fees are listed in U.S. dollars, but you may pay in local currency or USD depending on which option you choose. Australia is one of the few posts offering both a AUD card route and a USD card route — the exchange treatment differs, so check which is cheaper for your card.
The second-fee rule
If one person is applying for two visas, the second consular fee must be paid at the consulate on the day of the interview, and credit cards are not accepted for it. This catches people out because every other part of the process is prepaid online. Bring another payment form if this applies to you.

Step-by-step
- Submit your DS-160 and keep the barcode confirmation page.
- Create your profile on the USTravelDocs site for Australia.
- Select the correct visa class before paying.
- Choose Windcave A2A, a VFS AUD card, an Elavon USD card, or cash at Commonwealth Bank.
- Keep the receipt or reference number.
- Wait for the payment to register, then book your interview.
Card and A2A payments generally register faster than an in-person cash payment. You cannot see or hold an appointment slot until the payment posts.
